# Google API Key

# Why do we use it?

We have two use cases for the Google API key. The 'Google Maps JS Api Key' is used for rendering the Google Map in the frontend. The 'Google Maps Geocoding Api Key' is used for search functionalities through the plugin. If configured correctly, it is possible that both the api keys are the same.

# Validation of the keys

Both Api key fields come with a validation button. If the 'Google Maps Geocoding Api Key' is correctly configured it should show a 'Success message'. If the 'Google Maps JS Api Key' is correctly configured the test map should show without error or info message. When something goes wrong with this validation we recommend double checking the API keys. Don't forget to save the configuration page by pressing on the 'Save button' after!
